How we source, write, review, date and update our guides, how we use AI, and how advertising stays separate.
Privately operated educational resource. Not affiliated with the U.S. government.
USVISA.com is a free, privately operated website that explains U.S. immigration in plain language. We are not a government agency and not a law firm. We publish dated guides that link to official sources, and we help visitors who want a lawyer contact participating immigration attorneys who advertise with us.
U.S. immigration rules are spread across many agencies, forms and policy updates, and they change often. Our goal is simple: help people understand their options and next steps, in plain language, without charging them for it. We want readers to arrive at an official website or an attorney's office better prepared, with clearer questions and fewer surprises.

If anyone claiming to be from USVISA.com asks you for payment, government fees or identity numbers, it is not us. Read how to avoid immigration scams and use only official government websites for applications and fees.
USVISA.com is free to read and free to use. The site is funded by immigration attorneys who pay to advertise here. When you use our form, you choose whether and to whom your message is sent, and you decide whether to hire anyone. Attorneys set their own fees, and those fees are between you and the attorney.
Advertising does not buy coverage, favorable mentions or changes to our guides. Advertising is labeled, and it is kept separate from our editorial content. For details, read our advertising disclosure and editorial standards.

We write for people, not for lawyers. We answer the main question first, define legal terms when we use them, and avoid hype and fear.
We build our guides on primary sources: agency websites, the Federal Register, regulations, statutes and official forms and instructions. We link to them so you can verify what we say.
Every guide shows the date it was last updated. Immigration fees, processing times and policies change, so we say "as of" a specific date for anything that moves. Legal guides show a named reviewer once they have been reviewed by an attorney.
Our editorial decisions are our own. Advertisers do not review, approve or edit our guides before publication.
When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. See our corrections policy.
USVISA.com is available in English and Spanish. Government forms and official notices are usually in English, so our Spanish pages keep the official English names of forms and programs alongside the explanation. If the English and Spanish versions of a page ever differ, please let us know.
Questions, ideas or corrections are welcome. Write to info@usvisa.com or use our contact page.

No. We never take applications, collect government fees, schedule appointments or enter anyone into the Diversity Visa lottery.
