Accessibility statement

We want everyone, including people with disabilities, to be able to use USVISA.com. Our goal is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We are working toward that goal, know some gaps remain, and welcome reports of any barrier at info@usvisa.com.

Our commitment

Immigration information matters to people of all abilities, languages and devices. USVISA.com aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines describe how to make web content more perceivable, operable, understandable and robust for people with disabilities, including people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have motor, cognitive or learning disabilities.

Conformance status

As of the effective date of this statement, USVISA.com is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard. We have not yet completed a full independent audit. This statement is based on our own review and automated testing, and we will update it as we test further.

What we do

  • Use semantic HTML with a logical heading structure, landmarks and descriptive link text
  • Write in plain language and define legal terms
  • Provide text alternatives for meaningful images and keep decorative images hidden from screen readers
  • Design for keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator and a "skip to content" link
  • Aim for text and interface contrast that meets WCAG AA ratios
  • Support browser zoom up to 200% and reflow on small screens without horizontal scrolling
  • Label form fields, explain errors in text and avoid time limits on our forms
  • Avoid content that flashes, and respect reduced-motion settings
  • Mark the language of each page so screen readers use the correct pronunciation in English and Spanish
  • Check new pages and tools for accessibility before publishing, and include accessibility in our editorial review

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Known or likely limitations include:

  • Interactive tools: some calculators and charts may not yet fully announce changing results to screen readers or provide a complete text alternative for visual charts. We are adding text summaries.
  • Third-party content: components provided by our website platform (Shopify), embedded content and attorney advertisements are controlled partly by third parties and may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA.
  • Linked documents: government PDFs and forms we link to are produced by the issuing agencies, and we cannot change their accessibility. If you need help understanding a linked document, contact us and we will try to point you to an accessible version or describe its content.
  • Older pages: some pages published before our latest review may have missing image descriptions or contrast issues. We fix these as we find them.

Compatibility

USVISA.com is designed to work with recent versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge) on desktop and mobile, and with common assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control and keyboard-only navigation. Very old browsers may not display everything correctly.

Report a barrier or request help

If you have trouble using any part of the site, please tell us. Email info@usvisa.com with the subject "Accessibility" and include, if you can:

  • The page address (URL)
  • What you were trying to do and what went wrong
  • The browser, device and any assistive technology you use

We will try to provide the information you need in another format, such as plain text by email, and will work to fix the problem. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within a few business days. Please do not include identity numbers or case documents in your message.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is ongoing. We plan to arrange an independent audit against WCAG 2.2 AA, address the issues it finds, and update this statement with the results and date. We review this statement at least once a year.
